Why Korea now

KakaoTalk penetration in Korea is about 95%. Korea is one of the countries where Japanese nursing AI can land most naturally in society.

At the end of 2024, Korea entered a super-aged society as people aged 65 and over exceeded 20% of the population, one year earlier than expected. The home nursing market is expanding rapidly, but the field faces the same issue as Japan: nurses are buried in documents and administration and cannot focus on care.

The essence of this role

This position is not a sales manager, translator, or local entity administrator.

It is a business owner role: start from zero, create one, and grow it to ten. You will personally drive market research, hypothesis testing, PoC development, incorporation, product localization, hiring, and government relations.

The first one to two years will be a series of gritty field work.

What you will do

  • Phase 1, up to 6 months: visit home nursing institutions, home care centers, and providers in Korea, find two to three PoC partners, and run a Korea version of Houkan AI Ope
  • Phase 2, 6 months to 1 year: lead local subsidiary setup, rebuild the AI knowledge base for Korean home nursing systems, national health insurance benefits, and workflows, and supervise Korean UI
  • Phase 3, from year 1: build paid customers, develop relationships with nursing associations, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the National Health Insurance Service, hire and expand the team, and run the Korean entity independently

Requirements (MUST)

  • From Korea or long-term Korea experience, with native-level Korean
  • Work experience in Japan or business experience with Japanese companies, with business Japanese ability equivalent to JLPT N1
  • Experience producing results hands-on in business planning, new business launch, or business development
  • Ability to form hypotheses and keep moving in an environment without clear answers

Preferred (WANT)

  • Experience or expertise in healthcare, nursing, or health tech
  • Sales or business development experience in IT, SaaS, or BPO
  • Experience launching an overseas base or setting up a subsidiary
  • Network in Korea's home nursing industry or medical institutions

Who this role does not fit

  • People who want to execute a defined role in a well-organized organization
  • People who only want to chase sales numbers, because this role owns the whole business
  • People who can move only when instructions are clear
